Note: This topic applies to the HTTP1.1 Release.
The following section explains how to enable anti-malware scanning and set a maximum size for files to be scanned.
Note that Anti-Malware is a separate, licensed feature of Guardian. For more information, contact your Smoothwall representative.
|1.||Go to the Guardian > Anti-malware > Settings page.|
|2.||Configure the following:|
|•||Anti-malware scanning — Select Enable to activate malware scanning.|
|•||Max file size to scan — Enter the maximum file size to scan in megabytes. The value can be between 1 megabyte and 1024 megabytes (Mbytes).|
To download files larger than 1024 megabytes (that is, 1 gigabyte) with malware-scanning enabled, you may need to create an anti-malware policy which never scans files from these sites. Sites which stream audio/video over HTTP may also experience problems when malware scanning is enabled.
|•||File uploads — Select Scan or Do not scan as required.|
|3.||Click Save to apply the malware protection.|
Anti-malware signatures contain information regarding viruses and trojans known to the anti-malware engine. The Smoothwall appliance downloads signature from Smoothwall's anti-malware server every 15 minutes. For this to work seamlessly, you must include the following mirror server to your upstream proxies, if used:
You must ensure this is in place before the Smoothwall attempts to download the signatures — see Managing Malware Protection.
